A city of Minneapolis spokesman said Tuesday night that a solid waste and recycling employee has been removed from field duties pending a criminal investigation and an internal probe. The employee is one of two suspected of using their city positions to swindle taxpayers. The investigation centers around homes with over-grown yards or other appearance issues. After giving homeowners notice to clean-up their problem properties or face fines, the two employees are accused of returning and offering to make the warnings go away by cleaning the yards for $100 in cash.
