"Hello! My name is Patty Bruce. Though I am new to this forum, I read it often and feel as though I know many of you fairly well. It is apparent from the very spirited debates which take place on this forum that, regardless of individual perspectives, members here care a great deal about the City of Saint Paul. I enjoy reading the debates.

Having said that, I have decided to take a bold step and, personally, extend an invitation to each of you. On May 8, 2007 my family is hosting a Candlelight Vigil for my sister-in-law, Barbara L. Winn. May 8th marks the twenty-six year anniversary of Barbara's death and, as many of you probably know, her case is currently being reviewed by the Anoka County Attorney for possible charges.

I, sincerely, hope that you will consider attending our vigil. The outcome of this case is vitally important. Our goal is to raise awareness of the long term ramifications for women everywhere, if authorities fail to file charges in this case. All that we have ever asked for is that the justice system, which we all rely upon and believe in, is allowed to work. Nothing more, nothing less.

There are many members of this forum who have shown our family a tremendous amount of support, for which we are very grateful. On the other hand, I know that there are some members here who are far from convinced that this case has any merit. To those of you who are reluctant to support us in our quest for justice, please consider attending the vigil and, at the very least, hear what we have to say. You may very well change your mind. If not, at least you will have given us the opportunity to present our perspective.

Staff from the Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women will be speaking at the vigil. I hope to see you at the vigil. Should you decide to attend, feel free to introduce yourself! If you would like for me to e-mail you a flier, you can contact me at: bruc0015@umn.edu.

May God Bless and watch over you, always.

    Sincerely,
    Patty Bruce
